Hi, I’m Katherine. I really like helping people save money. When I first started college, I was already pretty money-savvy. I was still working at the part time job I’d gotten at age 16, I’d saved up a few thousand dollars, and my parents had recently gone through a Dave Ramsey program (highly recommend him, by the way) which was very much influencing my decisions with money. That’s not to say that I didn’t make plenty of mistakes, because I did. I also saw a lot of classmates of mine make many poor financial decisions, not on purpose but because they didn’t know any better.

What I hope to do for you in this book is to help you come up with a plan. There are always options to every decision you make with money, and it’s so important to learn early on to weigh those options and make smart decisions. Unless you come from money - and my best guess is that if you’re looking at this book you don’t - you’ll likely be poor in college. That does not mean that you have to make poor decisions that keep you that way. So without further ado, I’m going to give you options on everything from scholarships to textbooks to food, and everything in between. Like I said, I really like helping people save money!
